Second-youngest nephew ordered the buttermilk fried chicken $11.25. Should've known better, yet, I'm always trying to find that perfect chicken fried steak anyway. We weren't really hungry, just looking for a place to hang out with the nephews.Įven though I think their entrees are just OK, I couldn't resist ordering the chicken fried steak with country gravy, which came with cornbread, red beans, and rice, $11.25. Look! A waitress folding a super tall cat.ĭinner prices are more than lunch prices. Second-youngest nephew and I caught up while the others went into the bar next door to check out the selection of beers. Then we waved bye to cousin T before doing a quick run to Powell's City of Books so lil' sis could pick up the next book in the Twilight saga to read on the plane.Ī year later, in September 2009, I was back again at Montage with my brother, lil' sis, and our second-oldest and second-youngest nephews. And another time, a little kid gasped with delight when he got a foil sword that was longer than his arm. ![]() Once, I even saw a foil Superman, with upraised arms as if in flight and foil cape. Yes, I'm still a kid and get inordinate pleasure in seeing what shape my leftovers will come out in. Leftovers wrapped inside a foil cat and mouse. We could have easily finished our entrees but we saved some for leftovers just so we could have this! Lil' sis got the pesto mac with chicken, $6.95 basil pesto, Parmesan cheese, and tomatoes. Good old comfort food, kicked up a notch. The spicy mac and cheese has Cajun gravy, jalapenos, tomatoes, and Parmesan cheese. The old mac and cheese contains garlic, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese. ![]() ![]() Lil' sis and I ordered oyster shooters, $1.75 with Cajun cocktail sauce, horseradish, and a lemon.Ĭousin T and I ordered the "spold" mac and cheese with chicken, a combination of their old and spicy versions, $6.95. Because the other reason I go here is for the way the waitstaff craftily folds those leftovers inside foil animals.Īnd lastly, I go here because Montage is open late, handy when half my party wants to drink and the other half is underage.īut since we were meeting cousin T for lunch, much too early for drinks. That seems strange to go to a restaurant just for basically one dish and one appetizer, but hey, they're good. I go for the oyster shooters and mac and cheese. On the whole, I find the New Orleans-style entrees to be just OK, but I don't really come here for that. It tasted like a Snickerdoodle. On our last day in town, lil' sis and I met up with cousin T again for lunch at Le Bistro Montage, located literally underneath the Morrison Street bridge. Didn’t find anything that caught our eye, so we got a Snickerdoodle. We were in the area and stopped by for a little dessert in this little cafe. On our way to kill some time before our next big thing to do (Widmer), here are some things we saw and wanted to rememberīakery Bar (Industrial District, Southeast Portland, Oregon) We didn’t have any leftovers for Montage to waste foil and make animals, but this concept reminds me of Gladstone’s in Malibu, CA. Instead of lifting the jug after the cup was filled, she kept pouring as she moved away from the glass, leaving a river on the table, and a couple of times wetting my food. She couldn’t pour water right to save her life. Both were good but not the best mac or po boy we’ve had (sorry, we are spoiled as Los Angelenos). I got the Spold mac and cheese (spicy and old) Īnd J got the Gator po boy with a side of mac salad. this place is supposed to be a happening place after the clubs let out late night, but we didn’t have that luxury of time while on a 4-day trip in Portland, so we settled for a late lunch (yay, no waiting) ![]() 8/29 Le Bistro Montage (Industrial District, Southeast Portland, Oregon)
